Over the last week I stopped down at the NYC Impossible store to
pick some free Polaroid bags they where throwing out. When I was there I thought I
would give their new SX 70 Color Shade Push. They claim that this film
fades to blue and can take a ton of light/exposure. I picked up 2 packs
at the ridiculous price of $19.80 for 8 shots a pack!!! I planned to test during
a photo trip this last weekend.
This film was very interesting, but overall I wasn't super impressed.
It does fade to blue, but, it is random at best, and the color shifts are
slow to start and once they start to shift, they shift very, VERY, fast.
I cut a few open for transfers, and the foil ripped making them useless.
I really really want to like Impossible, but their quality really needs
to improve, and fast! Plus the price is mind-blowing! It's $2.44 a
SHOT!!! Testing is impossible, and the randomness of the effects
don't make it worth the price. Sigh...........................

I scanned without cleaning my scanner and it
added this great dusty fuzz effect.

First Run OF PX 600

Last Thursday I went down to the new Impossible store on Canal st. and Broadway, they where very very nice and their store really was amazing! Anyway, I picked up 5 packs of their new PX 600 film and raced home to pick up my new 600 camera, but it wasn't until Saturday that I was able to shoot the bulk of the film. I was hanging around the 6th floor of FIT, which is the fine arts floor, and found so many interesting still life's! This was the first time up on the 6th floor, so I shot for a good 2 hours, and the Polaroids above are what came from it. I plan on heading back down to Impossible this Thursday to stock up on more PX 600, I really love this film. Even the heavy rusted look is great, which is because the film was in my warm bag. All Shots taken with a Polaroid 660 with Px 600 film

PX 100 Polaroids- A Review

PX 100 Instant Film

Well I have finally gotten around to posting some of the new PX 100, SX-70 instant film, from the folks at Impossible. I have to say that I was really kind of sad after I shoot my first 2 boxes of film. They where hard to control and the exposures where all over the map. I knew that I wouldn't be shooting "prefect" film in the first few packs, but I was almost deeply hurt by the poor quality. This really turned me off to their new film, and I put my SX-70 away and moved on, but today I picked it up again. I wanted to finish the film that I left, and knowing now the film doesn't like heat, direct sun, shaded sun, etc. So I went out shooting and by accident I placed my first shot under my arm, and WOW! The film came out completely different then any of the other packs of the same film. The shots above where shooting today, with the knowledge of how to get a better exposure, and the shots below are the Selects from the first couple packs. So, I would have to say that I am much happier now then I was in the beginning, and I am now looking forward to the new PX 600 which looks even better then the 100. Sorry for how long this was, but it's too late because you have read far. There should be more Polaroids coming coming the more I shoot the new PX film as they come out and get better (hopefully).

Dumbo Friday 04/16/2010

Last Friday we went down to Dumbo in Brooklyn to look at the raw space that we have for our fashion location shoot this Friday. I brought my new DSLR with me to get a few shoots of the space and the group I went down with. All shoots are taken with my 7D with a 17-40 mm L series Canon lens. This is kind of new for me, I normally never shoot digital, but it was a fun experience, except for being really sick. On another note, more photos coming this week.

"Cited"Show Polaroids!

On Monday the 5th we had the "Cited" show at the CSV gallery on the lower east side, I had a wall of 30 plus Polaroids hung. I for the life of me don't have a picture of it, for some crazy reason. Anyway, I brought my Fuji Instax camera with me and shot the event. I have to give a special thanks to Triptych for all of their efforts in putting the show together, as well as everyone who helped us hang it!

New 6X6 and 6X9 Scans!

The top two where both shoot at 2AM, during a snow store over winter break in January. I was shooting with my Fuji 6X9 film camera, that I had to wrap in an inside-out grocery bag and taped around the edges, mounted on a tripod. I used 800 ASA Fuji NPZ, and with each exposure time ranging from 2 minutes to 5 minutes. I would really like to add all the shots from the snow storm, but the blog doesn't like all the image sizes!

The second two are both shoot from the train, between Schenectady NY (Home town) and New York NY. They where both shoot on my Holga, using Kodak Vericolor (It expired in 1994!!!) 120 and processed with a one stop push to help compensate for its age.

Oh, and we just had our "photo crit" in the Great Hall at FIT tonight, here is a snapshot from my phone of the layout I used.

Just thought I would add some of my Cross Processing images! This is unmodified, other then the processing. This is Velvia 50ISO that was pushed one stop and processed in C41 chemical. The images where shoot with a Lomo AL-C+ 35mm camera, on a very sunny day.
